...or was it? Spring Break to me means sun, beach and a road trip. Well, we thought we were headed in the right direction and were well equipped with road trip treats and a good book on tape (The Devil in the White City). We couldn't go very far so headed to S. Utah to Bryce Canyon. We'll let the pictures tell the rest of the story! brrrrrrrrrrrr!!!! We're still in smiles and had a good time. Luckily the hotel had an indoor pool and hot tub!

notes of inspiration
Last night I attended our Relief Society enrichment dinner. I love these events- seriously, I plan my schedule around them. They're always guaranteed to consist of good food, good company and send you home feeling loved. This one was no disappointment and the warm, uplifting feelings came in the way of a box with your name on it that went around to every person to write something nice about you. So at the end of the night I was reading these sweet little notes and came across one that differed from the other "nice smile" and "love your lessons", it said: "you should run a marathon." ...thank you? I'm wondering who could be the author. Maybe my neighbor that saw me yesterday out for a run in the full-on down pour and mistook my stupidity for dedication. Or maybe someone sitting near me at dinner and noticed I was the sole taker of seconds of the lasagna and thought I could use some extra exercise to balance out my intake. Either way, I'm happy to report to this nameless motivator that I actually am! Bruce and I are signed up for the Ogden marathon in May- I'm signed up for the half but depending on how much I'll be able to train by May, I just might go the distance.
Now I have to admit to complete stupidity that also occurred with these little notes. There ended up being lots of boxes to fill so by the half-way point we were getting tired and thought less about what we wrote. So a 'Janet Lauritzen' came my way and this is what I wrote on her note, "my mother-in-law's maiden name is Lauritzen too." that's all. and somehow I didn't make the connection until my Aunt Janet Lauritzen came up to me later and asked how school and such was going. I'm a fool. She is my mother-in-law's brother's wife. family!! My only hope is that she could cast the blame on either Christie (my sister-in-law) or I. sorry Christie

thank you girl scouts!!
We were walking home today and saw some girls in our ward delivering Girl Scout cookies. They never knocked on our door offering so we went after them
and came back victorious- a box of samoas and thin mints. And at the end of the day? only 2 samoas left. yummmmmy- boy are they tasty!! ...we'll regret it tonight when we're still on our sugar high, or during the week when we don't have any samoas to enjoy. Maybe we'll freeze the thin mints for later sugar cravings.

more sun please.
I try not to be so affected by the weather but the truth is I am. Last Friday was so beautiful and I had an equally excellent day. Especially at this time of the year, when winter is on the outs and I can't seem to anticipate summer more. I'm just craving some blue skies and the sun warming my back and bronzing my skin. ahhh.... We do try to enjoy the winter but I can't deny the fact that I'm a summer person through and through. And for proof of some winter enjoyment- here's pics of Bruce and I going snowshoeing with Candace and Dave up Big Cottonwood Canyon.
This is what I'm really dreaming about: LAKE POWELL!!!

Tagged!
Well I may be new at doing my own blogging but I've been blog stalking long enough to know what all this "tagging" is about. But instead of answering the same long tag Amelia did, I'm choosing the '6 Things About Me' tag. sorry Amelia, hee hee.
1. I always try to peel an orange in one peel. Kinda OCD, I know, but it is challenging. I think I'm maybe 4 in 10 with normal sized oranges but probably 9 in 10 with the little clementines.
2. I'm constantly thinking of funny things that I would never do. Like really rock to my music while on the treadmill at the gym- seriously, how do people run so unaffected by the music they work-out to? or start up conversations in the stalls in the bathroom.
One time Stef and I actually carried out one such plan to fall off the ski lift. But when it turned out more hazardous then hilarious to the people around us, we were the only ones laughing. but boy did we laugh!!
3. I rarely can witness a fall without laughing. Even hearing about them makes me giggle. The ultimate- Ashlee at the Howl!!
4. I've been known to eat large amounts of food and once ate almost an entire chocolate better-than-sex cake. The feat ended up not lasting long in my stomach and I threw it up. gross
5. I have 36 nieces and nephews and 2 more on the way!! Bruce and I can't wait to have 13 kids of our own someday!
6. It was actually my belly flop from the high dive and not my abs that really made Bruce fall in love with me on our first "un-official" date.
