It's a sad day for America when...

We can no longer rely on ourselves to provide the basic necessities of life.
We look to our government for one handout after another.
We feel entitled to our "own kitchen" without working for it.
We look outward, not inward, for change and hope.

p.s. Whats with the creepy lady in the white blazer whispering "I love you, Barack"?

The headline says it all

As seen yesterday on KSL:

"USA Today: Ogden one of the cities to live, work and play"

Bruce's response:

"Yes! Yes! Yes!! I'm vindicated!! I knew it all along! YES!!"

Lemons for Lovers

Am I obsessed with citrus fruits of late? I think yes.

For good reasons! I found this awesome recipe for "Lemon Lover's Cookies" and baked them for two parties this past weekend. They were a hit and so tasty, you should make them too!

Lemon Lover's melt-in-your-mouth deliciousness:

3/4 c. butter
3 tablespoons sugar
2 tsp lemon juice
1 1/4 c. flour
1/2 c. cornstarch
1 tsp grated lemon peel

**cream butter and sugar, beat in lemon juice. combine flour, cornstarch and lemon peel. gradually add to mixture. mix well and roll into a long roll. wrap with parchment paper and freeze. cut dough in 1/4 inch cookies and bake @ 350 for 8-10 mins. or if you have a turbo oven like ours, it's more like 5 minutes!

**I made some cream cheese frosting and added some extra lemon juice and zest. No one complained.

The secret's out..

Q: Best place to get fresh produce in SLC?
A: Hands down Rancho Market

We've been enjoying these GIGANTIC juicy grapefruits from Rancho that were 9 lbs for .99 cents! And this week, 8lbs of oranges for .99 cents!?! Seriously, one bag of oranges was 50 cents!
It's awesome. Plus, their produce is so much sweeter and is the closest replacement of the fresh garden fruits and veggies which we desperately miss during the Winter. We're spoiled when it comes to garden produce!

I say the secret is out because this store is tiny and seems to cater to the Hispanic population of SLC. Going there is just like heading south of the border. They sell those little bobblehead toys and CD's in the parking lot and I was often the only blonde in the store when I'd visit. Now I go and the place is packed, with all different nationalities. I love it!

So go shop at Rancho!

For the beauty of the earth

Who needs a nice, warm sun when you can spend lovely wintery days hiking up to awesome frozen waterfalls?

okay, I do.

But I must thank the season for being especially kind this Winter. I haven't loathed it as I have in the past, and actually have appreciated it more this year.

I'm hot and I'm cold...

...when it comes to blogging.

And now is definitely a cold moment.

I'm just not really into blogging right now, and not only have I neglected mine, I've neglected yours too. Sorry. But do we all really care that much? Who do we really blog for anyway?

Oh well, here's to the New Year!

I can feel that it's going to be a really great year! There's big things in store, not just for me and Mr. Bruce, but I'm sensing great things to happen for my dear friends and family.
And I can't wait!

And speaking of dear friends and family, I've been really full of love for them lately. Of course I always do love them, but I've recognized how awesome it is to have so many wonderful friends, siblings, in-laws, neighbors and parents surrounding us. I consider myself so lucky to be inspired by so many people, to have really long-term friendships that are so fulfilling and to know that there's always people who care. And please know that I care! And that you all make life sweeter.

So on that note, here's to a fantastic 2009!!
